Aaron Macholz B.A., RP

Aaron Macholz B.A., RP established his independent practise – Psychotherapy, Consultation, and Psycho-Educational Services recently in February of 2026.  Aaron became registered as a Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario in May of 2015. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a focus in Indigenous Anthropology. .  

Aaron has worked in several roles in the field of Adult and Children’s Mental Health Field over the past 25 years. These roles include: Adult Mental Health Coordinator – Hiawatha Behavioural Health – S.S.M. MI, Developmental Service Worker III – Behavioural Unit – Community Living Algoma, Northern Youth Services – Youth Attendant, Multi-Systemic Therapist – Intensive Treatment Services, Jordan’s Principle Counsellor, Transitional Counsellor (Sault Area Hospital and Algoma Family Services), Addictions Counsellor – Genesis Program, and Counsellor/Single Therapy Counsellor – Algoma Family Services, and Intensive School Board Counsellor. 

His specialized training includes Multi-Systemic Therapy – Kinark Toronto, Co-Current Disorder Training, Triple P and Strengthening Families Group Practitioner, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Dialectal Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Trauma Therapy, Crisis Prevention Institute Trainer, Suicide Intervention and Prevention, and Brief Therapy. Competency maintenance and clinical supervision is critical to his service delivery. 

Aaron’s career is fundamentally based in behavioural assessment and interventions. He is known for his evidence informed approach, tailored presentations, and original resources that promote change and consistency. Parental support and “supporting the supporter” has been a consistent theme with parents and guardians that he has had the pleasure to support. He has extensive experience working with youth and adults who are experiencing symptoms of co-occurring disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, and symptoms stemming from Congenital Pre-Dispositions (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and Individuals on the Autism Spectrum).

Currently Aaron offers Psychotherapy Services to individuals of all ages.  Presenting issues that can be addressed within his clinical scope include: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma (Acute Stress Syndrome, PTSD, Complex Trauma), Grief and Loss, Behavioural Issues that might be interfering with daily functioning and the family unit, and Parenting/Co-Parenting Barriers.  He is also trained and able to provide Psycho-Educational Information in regards to: Effective Communication and Interaction Styles, Mindfulness Modalities, Sleep Hygiene, and Parent/Relationship Continuity.

Aaron offers a free consultation (Scheduled Telephone Contact – 15 minutes in length) to ensure that his services and professional scope can meet your, your child or your family’s mental health needs and presenting struggles. Linking and coordinating of appropriate services can occur near the end of, or during the treatment period if a specialized modality or another therapeutic service is indicated. Community accessible service information and resources may be presented in the initial consultation if your service request cannot be addressed by his independent practise.  Individuals are always welcomed to reconnect after having time to make an informed decision about moving forward with his support.
